Very rare old vintage French workwear jacket Le Mont Saint Michel Ares. 
Very thick cotton canvas of superb quality. 
Brand label embroidered and sewn entirely which dates it to the 1940s after the war. 
The pattern of the pockets is also an element which allows us to date it to this period with the extra thickness in V rather than straight. 
This genuine work jacket from the last century is a superb piece in perfect condition apart from the beginnings of patina which gives it a very pleasant appearance.

In 1913, the workwear brand Le Mont Saint Michel was born, created by the Ariès family[1]. The workshop was then located in Pontorson, a few kilometers from the famous Norman abbey, from which the brand name comes. Their work jacket dressed farmers and artisans in the Great West of France during the first half of the 20th century, and thus became an icon of French workwear heritage.
Since its creation, the brand has distinguished itself by the quality and longevity of its clothing[1], as evidenced by the slogans of the time: “Beware of imitations!”, “Three times more use”, or “The best clothes”[1].
It is one of the rare brands to benefit from advertisements painted on the gables of houses, particularly in Brittany; more than 1,000 walls were painted in the middle of the century[1]. The yellow logo of the silhouette of Mont-Saint-Michel gained its notoriety[1].

Très rare veste de travail (workwear) française ancienne vintage Le Mont Saint Michel Ares. 
Toile en coton très épais de superbe qualité. 
Étiquette de la marque brodée et cousue intégralement ce qui la date dans les années 40’ après la guerre. 
Le motif des poches est également un élément qui permet de la dater à cette époque avec la sur-épaisseur en V plutôt que droite. 
Cette véritable veste de travail du siècle dernier est une superbe pièce en parfait état en dehors d’un début de patine qui lui confère un aspect très sympathique.

En 1913 naît la marque de vêtements de travail Le Mont Saint Michel, créée par la famille Ariès[1]. L’atelier se trouve alors à Pontorson, à quelques kilomètres de la célèbre abbaye normande, d’où provient le nom de la marque. Leur veste de travail habille durant la première moitié du xxe siècle les paysans et artisans du Grand Ouest français, et devient ainsi une icône du patrimoine français du vêtement de travail.
La marque se distingue depuis sa création par la qualité et la longévité de ses vêtements[1], comme en témoignent les slogans de l’époque : « Méfiez-vous des imitations ! », « Trois fois plus d’usage », ou « Les meilleurs vêtements »[1].
C’est l'une des rares enseignes à bénéficier de publicités peintes sur les pignons de maisons, notamment en Bretagne ; plus de 1000 murs sont peints au milieu du siècle[1]. Le logo jaune de la silhouette du Mont-Saint-Michel obtient sa notoriété[1].
