Archival Moschino Mainline: Double-Breasted Chalk Stripe "Architectural" Jacket

The 30th Anniversary Collection

The Aesthetic
A masterclass in "Classic with a Twist" from the Rossella Jardini era. Having served as Franco Moschino’s right-hand woman from 1983, Jardini took the helm in 1994 and remained until late 2013, the landmark year from which this jacket hails. She truly understood Franco's original vision, maintaining that perfect balance of Italian sartorial excellence and surrealist wit. This timeless piece represents the final zenith of Moschino Mainline as a sophisticated, tailoring-focused house before the transition to the pop-culture aesthetic of the Jeremy Scott years. This isn't your grandfather’s pinstripe; it is a sharp, double-breasted power piece that manages to feel both heritage and avant-garde. The chalk stripe is subtle and sophisticated, set against a masculine deep charcoal.

Styling
Photographed here exactly as I wore it (twice), with a D&G 'Ancient Ruins' SS14 shirt, black leather trousers, and Burberry's iconic Prorsum Patent Leather Runway boots.

The Fabric Architecture
The composition is a rare and deliberate blend of 53% Cotton and 40% Wool. This choice creates a "three-season" garment with a unique, crisp handle. The cotton provides a structural rigidity that holds the double-breasted silhouette perfectly, whilst the wool ensures a luxurious drape and warmth. It is breathable enough for a spring evening but substantial enough for winter layering.

Measurements (IT 50 / UK 40)
Shoulder to Shoulder: 18" / 46cm
Armpit to Armpit: 20" / 51cm
Sleeve Length: 25" / 63cm
Total Length: 29" / 73cm

Condition & Detail
This jacket features the iconic Moschino red interior piping, a signature hidden detail known only to the wearer. Purchased by me new and worn only twice in 2014 for a few hours, it has since been treasured in my mountain top archive and remains in perfect, like-new condition. The double-breasted 6-button configuration (with 2 to button) offers a timeless, masculine silhouette that will never go out of fashion.
