Tom Ford Cooper 61004A Wool Suit Pants Trousers Size 56R Fit W38 Flat Front

Overview

An exceptionally refined pair of TOM FORD men's tailored trousers, produced in Switzerland from 100% wool and identified by the internal model code 61004A, corresponding to the Cooper trouser line.

Finished in a versatile gray tone, these trousers embody the understated side of TOM FORD tailoring: a clean flat front, disciplined straight-leg silhouette, sharply pressed creases and carefully finished internal construction rather than unnecessary external branding.

The trousers are tagged 56R. Based on the actual 48 cm flat waistband measurement, the waist measures approximately 96 cm / 37.8 inches around, placing the practical fit close to a W38.

This is a particularly strong piece for someone looking for genuine high-end European tailoring that can work equally well as formal business wear, evening wear or as a standalone tailored trouser with knitwear, shirts, jackets or coats.

Measurements

Measurements were taken manually with the garment laid flat.

Brand Position

TOM FORD menswear is closely associated with highly structured luxury tailoring, sharp proportions and a distinctly polished approach to formal clothing.

Rather than relying on visible logos, pieces such as these trousers demonstrate the brand through fabric choice, cut, internal finishing and construction.

The trousers also retain a detailed factory production label containing the original fabric, model, sizing and manufacturing information—an especially useful detail on luxury tailored clothing where much of the item's identity is found inside the garment rather than on the exterior.

Fabric

The factory label specifies:

Outer Fabric: 100% Wool

The cloth has the smooth, compact appearance expected from a fine tailored suiting wool rather than a bulky or casual wool fabric.

It provides the trousers with a clean drape and allows the pressed crease to remain visually sharp, while the gray coloration keeps the surface subtle and versatile.

The internal trouser lining is marked:

100% Rayon / Cupro

The smooth interior lining helps the garment move comfortably over the body and is characteristic of higher-grade tailored construction.

Construction

These trousers show a distinctly tailored construction throughout.

The waistband is internally reinforced rather than simply folded and stitched like a casual trouser. Inside, a striped waistband curtain and lining system provide structure while keeping the interior clean and finished.

The front closure combines a concealed zipper with tailored metal hook-and-bar fastening at the waistband.

Additional construction details include:

    Structured tailored waistband
    Multiple belt loops
    Flat-front construction
    Clean pressed creases
    Slanted front pockets
    Two rear welt pockets
Button closure at both rear pockets
    Internal waistband curtain
    Partial internal lining
    Finished internal seams
    Straight tailored leg
    Clean plain-finished hems

The restrained exterior and much more elaborate internal finishing are exactly what make quality tailoring different from standard mass-market dress trousers.

Design Details

The design is deliberately minimal.

There are no large logos, decorative embroidery or prominent branding. Instead, the visual identity comes from proportion and tailoring.

The medium-to-dark gray wool works especially well with black, charcoal, navy, cream, white, brown and many muted neutral tones.

A pronounced pressed crease runs vertically along each leg, adding structure and visually lengthening the silhouette.

The rear is equally clean, with two slim welt pockets secured by understated dark buttons.

The approximately 20 cm flat hem opening gives the trousers a refined straight profile without appearing excessively wide.

Fit

The factory tag states 56R, with Drop 7 also recorded on the production label.

The actual waistband measures approximately 48 cm flat / 96 cm circumference / 37.8 inches, so these should be considered approximately a W38 actual waist.

The proportions suggest a classic tailored shape: relatively clean through the upper leg, narrowing progressively toward the knee and finishing with a controlled straight-leg opening.

With:

34 cm thigh → 25 cm knee → 20 cm hem

the silhouette remains sophisticated rather than skinny.

Because luxury tailoring sizing can differ considerably between models and production periods, the actual measurements provided above should be treated as the primary sizing reference.

Why This Piece Matters

A strong pair of tailored trousers can often be more useful than the complete suit from which this type of construction originates.

The neutral gray 100% wool fabric allows this pair to function independently with a wide range of wardrobes, while the Swiss manufacture and detailed internal tailoring give it a level of construction rarely found in ordinary dress pants.

The combination of:

TOM FORD + 100% wool + Swiss production + model 61004A + 56R sizing + classic gray

makes this a particularly attractive piece for buyers who value traditional luxury menswear but still want something practical enough to wear regularly.

The lack of visible branding also gives them the discreet appearance associated with true luxury tailoring.
