Vintage 1950s "Mabel Ellsworth - New York" half-hat/cocktail hat/cap-turban in blush pink silk velvet with rhinestones.
Extremely rare and exquisite original vintage "Mabel Ellsworth - New York" half-hat/cap-turban, dating back to 1950-1954, in fine hammered silk velvet in a blush pink/iridescent peach color with cream highlights, maintaining an excellent vintage sheen.
A historic brand of high-end women's hats active in the mid-20th century, highly sought-after for their quality craftsmanship and the typical style of the "Golden Age" of American millinery, Mabel Ellsworth's creations were distinguished by their sophisticated elegance and the use of fine fabrics, often embellished with refined details. Not a mass-produced product, these hats were distributed exclusively in luxury American department stores of the time.
A demi-chapeau with a face-framing front drape, typical of the early 1950s style. A twisted edge completes the transition between the front and back. The crown curves upward with a very elegant sculptural effect, balanced by the sparkling highlight at the back: a refined, flexible loop entirely decorated with sparkling, perfectly intact rhinestones set in prongs (no missing or yellowed stones). This elegant design is the hallmark of Mabel Ellsworth's millinery creations.
Excellent vintage condition: clean and intact satin lining, solid structure with no sagging, the decorative bar is entirely intact, and there are no missing rhinestones or "dead stones" (i.e., vintage crystals that are yellowed or tarnished by oxidation).
