The architecture of this scarf resembles the gardens of Agra. The Great Moghuls, Timurid sovereigns who ruled northern India from the 16th century, spent most of their leisure time on horseback: ceremonies, polo, hunting birds of low and high flight, tiger hunting... This last type of exercise provided a particularly rare pleasure as wives were said to be allowed to participate with their faces unveiled.

Issued in 1993, reissued in 1997

L'architecture de ce carré ressemble aux jardins d'Agra. Les grands Moghols, souverains Timurides, qui régnèrent sur le nord de l'Inde dès le 16° siécle, prenaient à cheval le meilleur de leurs loisirs: cérémonies, polo, chasse aux oiseaux de bas et de haut vol, chasse aux tigres... Ce dernier genre d'excercie dispensait un plaisir d'autant plus rare que les épouses avaient le droit, dit-on, d'y participer à visage dévoilé.
