Vintage Luxury Bag: Céline "Sulky" Style (70s)
General Description
Exquisite vintage high leather goods handbag/shoulder bag, dating approximately from the 1970s. A collector's piece that stands out for its timeless elegance and the exceptional quality of its materials.
Technical Details and Materials
Exterior: Made of authentic snakeskin (python) in a sophisticated burgundy/bordeaux tone with a glazed finish. It features a masterly panel construction with decorative zigzag stitching, a typical artisan technique of the era to highlight the natural texture of the scales.
Emblematic Hardware: Luxury front closure with the iconic Carriage motif (Sulky/Horse Carriage), a historical symbol of the French house Céline. The emblem stands out against a background of golden metal mesh (grille), a rare variant highly appreciated by collectors of pieces from the Céline Vipiana era.
Interior: Full lining in smooth dark brown calfskin. It has a triple gusset/accordion-style compartment structure, including an interior pocket with a zipper and original metal pull.
Versatility: Includes a fine golden chain that allows it to be worn as a shoulder bag or stored away to be used as an elegant clutch.
Condition
Excellent Vintage: The exterior leather maintains its shine and structure. The scales are well preserved.
Hardware: The closure works perfectly and retains a deep gold color with a natural patina from use.
Authenticity: High-end piece with no visible engraved marks (common in the discreet luxury of the 70s where interior gold stamps often faded over time). The quality of the exotic leather and the precision of the carriage hardware are consistent with Céline Paris standards.
