How to choose a coat: For a timeless old money look, the coat should not be tight-fitting. It should be slightly oversized. So if you wear a size 38, you should take a size 40 coat. 
Especially since you will have sweaters underneath, it will be much more modern.

Coat over very thick cashmere (the brand no longer makes this quality since its acquisition in 2018! 
You won't be cold for a single second. Cashmere is the warmest material. It adapts to outside temperatures
