Kenzo

Multicolour

This is a runway coat by Antonio Marras for Kenzo, from the years when the Sardinian designer led the women's collections (2003–2011). It was created for the catwalk and never sold in stores. The inside label says 'antonio marras pour KENZO défilé', with the look reference handwritten.

The coat is pure Marras, mixing vintage romance and craftsmanship. It is made of ivory satin, fully quilted, with raised black stitching forming a large foliage and feather pattern. Black textured fabric inserts are applied over the pattern. The quilting gives the coat real sculptural volume, almost like silk armor.

Very loose trapeze shape, with a deeply pleated back that opens when you move
Gathered, puff shoulders, long slightly gigot sleeves
Large stand-up collar that can be worn up or folded down as a shawl collar
Double-breasted with large black braided trimmings buttons, plus two openwork metal buttons inside
Facings, collar edge, and cuffs in black pinstripe wool
Black satin lining printed with beige eyelets on a tone-on-tone polka dot background, with a white polka dot panel. The inside is as carefully made as the outside

Condition

Very good condition for a runway piece. There are a few light, small marks on the ivory satin, visible in close-up photos. One braiding button shows slight wear on the edge.
No snags, and the seams and quilting are intact.

Silk coat
