This exceptional coat from the Issey Miyake Pleats Please Winter 2008 collection represents a remarkable textile feat. The openwork pleating creates a fascinating three-dimensional texture where the threads overlap to form an organic, almost architectural network. The multicolored iridescent reflections oscillate between gray, green, purple, and pink depending on the angle of the light, giving this piece a poetic and changing dimension. The complex manufacturing technique is a testament to Japanese textile expertise and Issey Miyake's avant-garde approach. The openwork appearance allows for creative layering while offering a surprising lightness. The intentionally frayed hem adds an artisanal and contemporary touch to this sculptural creation. This 2008 piece perfectly illustrates the house's ability to constantly reinvent the signature pleating. The play of transparency and opacity, combined with the subtle chromatic reflections, transforms this coat into a true work of wearable art that defies the conventions of traditional fashion.
