Rare Vintage Norell for Michael Forrest New York “Autumn Haze” Natural Mink Fur Coat

Exceptional vintage natural mink coat by Michael Forrest of New York, designed by the famous designer Norell, in the beautiful and less commonly seen Autumn Haze coloration.

The coat was identified by Paul Matsumoto of Edwards-Lowell, a longtime luxury furrier, as a “Michael Forrest Autumn Haze Mink Jacket designed by Norell.” Paul estimated the original retail price as $5,000.

The Autumn Haze color is one of the most striking features of this piece. Rather than the dark brown typically associated with vintage mink, this coat has a gorgeous lighter, warm natural mink coloration with subtle tonal variation. The color gives it a particularly elegant and surprisingly current look.

The coat retains its original Michael Forrest New York and Norell labeling.

Norman Norell was one of the most celebrated American fashion designers of the 20th century, known for sophisticated construction, exceptional materials and understated luxury. His association with Michael Forrest makes this an especially interesting piece for collectors of vintage American designer fashion.
