Joseph Grey Cotton & Silk Peplum Top — S — 100% Cotton / Silk Yoke & Trim — Made in EEC — c.pre-1993
A rare vintage Joseph top in heather grey — part of the brand’s early archive, identified by the “Made in EEC” label, used only before the European Economic Community became the EU in 1993. This places the piece firmly in Joseph’s formative era, when the brand was establishing its identity as London’s premier purveyor of understated luxury.
The construction is exceptional: 100% cotton body with a 100% silk yoke at the shoulder and a silk satin border along the hem — the contrast of textures giving the piece a quiet sophistication that reads far more refined than its simple silhouette suggests. V-neckline with silk trim, vertical seam panelling through the body creating a gentle trapeze flare, pearl shell buttons at the back neckline, and gathered cap sleeves.
