Beautiful Pleats Please Issey Miyake textured pleated top, featuring a distinctive grid / waffle jacquard pleat (Product Code: PP51-JK472).

A refined and less common variation within the Pleats Please line, this piece combines the brand’s signature permanent pleating with a subtle checkered, embossed texture, giving the surface added depth and a more architectural presence.

The top is sleeveless and constructed in a wide, square-cut silhouette, appearing almost rectangular when laid flat (please refer to hanger and flat-lay images). This geometric construction is characteristic of Pleats Please design, where garments are cut with minimal shaping and transform when worn. When on the body, the fabric contracts and drapes from the shoulders to create a soft, sculptural line.

Crafted from Issey Miyake’s iconic heat-set pleated polyester, the garment is lightweight, wrinkle-resistant, and travel-friendly, designed to permanently retain its structure without ironing.

This piece comes from my mother’s personal collection, built over decades through regular trips to Japan, where she carefully selected pieces from high-end boutiques and department stores.

Fashion has deep roots in our family - my grandmother’s side of the family were founders of the historic Boni-Moriya department store in Hakodate, which helped shape a lifelong appreciation for quality, craftsmanship, and Japanese design. My mother is now downsizing her collection, and I’m helping find new homes for a selection of pieces.

CONDITION

Excellent condition.

The pleats remain sharp, springy, and well-defined throughout. The textured grid pattern is crisp and consistent, with no visible damage, pulls, or distortion. The fabric retains its original structure and elasticity.
